Hi! My name is Katie Griffith.

I’m a freelance writer and climbing guide with ten years of experience connecting people to the outdoors. I love scrambling, doodling, interviewing new people, and facilitating personal growth through outdoor adventure.

In past lives I’ve coached competitive youth climbing in Seattle, taught fire ecology and water management in the Rockies, led canoe expeditions in Northern Minnesota and done outreach in North Cascades gateway communities. My many previous hats offer a range of perspectives for the writing work I do today.

I specialize in feature writing, educational blog content for outdoor brands, curriculum development, and outdoor climbing instruction. I write about outdoor recreation access, women in the outdoors, health and fitness, the effects of climate change on specific communities and industries, public lands, and community-based solutions to systemic issues.

Organizations that I’ve worked with include She Moves Mountains, Climbing Magazine, NOLS, Therm-a-Rest, Modus Athletica, Seattle Bouldering Project, The American Alpine Institute, YMCA Bold & Gold, Mount Baker Experience Magazine, North Cascades Institute, North Cascades National Park, YMCA Camp Widjiwagan, and Keystone Science School.
