Self Rescue Course Details

If you’re climbing high off the ground or deep in the mountains, chances are something will eventually go awry. In countless complex scenarios, there’s a simple solution to the problem if you know the right combination of skills.

During this two day course, we’ll practice a variety of rescue tools and learn how to apply them in a bind. We’ll start with a full day of ground school, so climbers can get comfy with new techniques on the ground. Once we build some muscle memory, we’ll get off the ground and practice with live loads.

Skills Learned Include:

  • Rescue knots and hitches

  • Improvised belays and rappels

  • Rope ascension

  • Knot pass

  • Belay escape

  • Haul systems

  • Load transfers

  • Counterbalance and tandem rappels to rappel with an injured climber

  • Methods for accident prevention and preparedness!!!
